CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky Reflects on Her Tenure During COVID-19

The Business Press – June 28, 2023 at 04:04AM

Dr. Rochelle Walensky has been the Director of the CDC since January 2021, during some of the toughest times in the country’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

She had to lead the national response and rebuild public trust in the CDC amid criticism over messaging and data management. In a recent interview with TIME, Dr. Walensky reflected on her tenure, discussing topics such as vaccine misinformation, CDC’s limitations in data collection, and the legacy she hopes to leave.

Despite some bruising, she believes that CDC is back to producing science, and that America’s investment is needed for us to be the successful public health agency of the future.
